Skoda Auto is expected to unveil the upcoming Kodiaq and Octavia RS tomorrow for the Indian market. The carmaker will officially reveal the technical specifications and features of both the cars.
Both cars are expected to be launched next month. The focus is more on the Kodiaq as it would be driving volumes against the Octavia RS. It’s the first seven-seater SUV from Skoda and is based on VW’s MQB platform, which underpins the Tiguan. The Kodiaq is expected to be offered with a choice of 2.0-litre engine options including a 180bhp TSI petrol, 150bhp TDI diesel and 190bhp TDI diesel version. These engines will come mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic. The 4×4 version might be available on the top-end trim.
The Octavia RS, on the other hand, is essentially a high-performance version of the regular model. The vRS badge was first introduced in 2004 and will now make a comeback to the Indian market in the 2017 avatar. The Octavia RS will be based on the Octavia facelift that was launched last month. Cosmetically, the RS looks sportier than the standard model thanks to the new body kit, bigger alloys and a dual exhaust pipe. We expect this sedan to be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol unit producing 227bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. More details will be available tomorrow.
