There are several different kinds of doctors practicing their medications and methods to bring ease to a patient. Patients in different communities also depend and trust on different doctors. Some practice allopathy, some are more inclined to use homeopathy, some prefer going to saints and mandirs and some go to therapists and masseuse to help relieve tension and pain in their body. Just like these doctors there is another category, called the chiropractor who is a healthcare professional and focused on the diagnosis and treatment of the neuromuscular disorders and emphasis on the treatment by manual adjustment or manipulation of the spine.

Mostly chiropractors try to reduce the pain and improve the functionality of the patients and also educate them on how they can account for their own health via exercise, ergonomics and other therapies to treat their back pain. It is usually categorized as an alternative medicine. The practice is mostly focused on the intimate relationship between the nervous system and the spine. Usually for many conditions, chiropractic treatment can restore the structural integrity of the spine and reduce pressure on the sensitive neurological tissue. There are many organizations which a chiropractor can join. One of these organization is International Chiropractic Association (ICA). In this organization all the chiropractors can join. The organization was founded in 1938 by B.J. Palmer. There is also another famous organization called the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). There was a campaign to merge the two organizations but the attempt failed. Later on the World Federation of Chiropractic was formed in 1987.

The ACA is larger than ICA as per number of members. However, both these organizations are representing USA at a national level. In the ICA, there are various councils which are working to promote the education for chiropractors. These councils also include the Council on fitness and the Sports Health, Chiropractic Pediatrics, Applied Chiropractic Science, Chiropractic Philosophy, Wellness Science and Upper Cervical care. The ICA aims to advance the chiropractic practice throughout the world as a distinct health care profession which predicts its unique philosophy, science and art. Apart from networking and strengthening community leadership roles, the ICA also offers postgraduate programs and encourages continuing education which can assist with license renewal.

Most of the ICA programs are focused on philosophy, science, and art of chiropractic in relation to the vertebral subluxation complex. The council on chiropractic pediatrics offer a Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics which is a credential that is board-certified. The council on the Chiropractic Philosophy offers a Diplomate as well while the council on Upper Cervical Care offers a specialty postgraduate program called the Diplomate in Chiropractic Upper Cervical Procedures. The Council on Applied Chiropractic Sciences serves as a credentialing body for Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma. The council on Wellness Lifestyle Science promotes expertise on lifestyle and wellness in the profession. Similarly, the council on fitness and sports health science offers services as a source for community health networking, educational and clinical resources. They provide the best ways to approach the patient education and community outreach.
