Xiaomi backed Black Shark is all set to launch a new gaming smartphone on March 18. We are talking about the Black Shark 2 which has been subjected to several leaks and rumours of late. The Black Shark 2 was also spotted on Geekbench benchmarking site earlier this week which revealed some of the key specs of the gaming phone. Meanwhile, the company has also confirmed that Black Shark will soon debut in India.
The Black Shark 2 gaming phone will be the first device from the company to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. Rumours suggest that the upcoming Black Shark will either come paired 10GB of RAM or 12GB of RAM. The latter is more likely. Rumours suggest that the Black Shark will come packed with new Liquid Cool 3.0 and fast charging support that will be upgraded to 27W from 18W.
Xiaomi is currently running some promo campaigns where it’s hinting that Black Shark 2 will offer top secret experience. It is worth noting that the Black Shark may, for now, launch just in Shanghai, China and later followed by European markets.
Soon after the launch of the Redmi Note 7 series in India Black Shark confirmed to set up its operations in India soon. The company has revealed that Black Shark will be headquartered in Bengaluru — similar is the case with Xiaomi — and headed by David Li, who’s the VP of Black Shark Global. Li is said to manage the overall operations in India for the Black Shark gaming phones. Some reports suggest, ex-OnePlus communications head, Chirag Nagendra will also be a part of the Black Shark India team. Nagendra is likely to be responsible for brand building and communications strategy and will own a designation of Black Shark India’s Marketing Head.
In the press release sent to the media Black Shark mentioned, “A Big “Hello” to you from Black Shark and it’s India Team!” This possibly hints at Black Shark Helo may be the first smartphone to debut under the brand in India. To recall, the Black Shark Helo was first launched in October 2018. As of now, there’s no report whether the company will bring the Black Shark to India or not.
